Strength & Conditioning Program
Full Time Students:
The Strength and Conditioning Program is led by JohnMark Jenkins, Director. Every day players participate in a one hour group fitness session designed and implemented by JohnMark. Group fitness sessions include work on speed, power, balance, movement, body strength, core strength, prehabs, energy system conditioning, and flexibility. Strength and Conditioning sessions are designed for every athlete to reach maximum potential. JohnMark fosters clear and open communication with each athlete not only to realize results, but also to ensure safety and prevent injury.
Prior to every te nnis session, JohnMark leads players through a 15 minute dynamic warm up to accomplish the following: increase core body temperature, increase joint mobility, increase neuromuscular stabilization (balance), increase reaction time, and activate proper muscle firing patterns. This intense dynamic warm up is necessary to decrease the chance of injury.
JohnMark believes that getting players into shape in a safe manner requires a team effort. In addition to working with players off the court, JohnMark teams up with John Evert, as well as all of the coaching pros on staff, to work with the players on the court. Through this on court team effort approach, the student athletes are able to develop their strength and conditioning skills in a manner that is consistent with their overall tennis training.
Private Training Lessons:
JohnMark Jenkins, Director of Strength and Conditioning, offers private sessions for individuals as well as small groups. Some players want to enhance overall performance while other players desire to work on specific needs such as movement, power, or flexibility. Private sessions vary from 30 minutes to one and a half hours. The majority of private sessions are one hour.
